A Vintage Kitchen That Deserved Its Own Spotlight
The heart of their home was the kitchen. This wasn’t just any kitchen. It was a phenomenal vintage kitchen with a pink backsplash and countertops, retro stove, and original charm you simply can’t recreate.
Alaina styled the space beautifully and intentionally, knowing it would eventually change. She brought in a vintage Better Homes cookbook, fresh florals, pink knickknacks, and topped it off with freshly baked sugar cookies. It felt like stepping into a time capsule. We captured couples photos of them leaning against the counters, laughing in soft window light, and existing naturally in the space.
Living Room Portraits with Light, Texture, and Movement
Their living room was partially furnished, striking the perfect balance between styled and lived-in. They added a large rug, a few pieces of furniture, plants, blankets, and board games. The front window flooded the space with beautiful natural light, especially around the fireplace mantle they decorated together. This allowed us to play with soft shadows, harsh lighting contrasts, and layer compositions. From relaxed portraits on the rug to standing shots near the fireplace, the living room became a space that felt warm, intimate, and inviting.
Styling Empty Rooms for Storytelling
One of my favorite parts of this couples photoshoot was how thoughtfully they approached the empty rooms. Instead of leaving them blank, they styled them just enough to create visual interest and narrative.
The Ladder + Plants Room
One empty room featured a tall ladder, some plants, and florals. Simple, minimal, and intentional. This space symbolized a blank slate filled with potential.
The Moving Boxes Room
Another room embraced the reality of transition with stacked moving boxes and more plants. This space told the story of right now. Not finished. Not polished. Just real.
Outfit Choices That Matched the Story
They chose two outfits, each representing a different side of this season.
Look One: Retro & Nostalgic
Alaina wore a pink dress, cardigan, and white tights. Tyler wore a thrifted western button-down and jeans. This look tied beautifully into the vintage aesthetic of the home, especially the kitchen. The colors and textures complemented the pink accents perfectly.
Look Two: Casual & In-Motion
For their second look, they leaned into the reality of moving with denim and overalls. This styling was relaxed and effortless, which lead our posing into more playful, candid, and cozy.
