Floral Portrait Photography in Utah: A Colorful Session at Jordan Parkway Trail
ESTIMATED READ TIME: 5 MINUTES

If you’ve ever dreamed of a portrait session that feels bold, artistic, and full of life, floral portrait photography in Utah is one of the most beautiful ways to make that vision come to life.
For this session, I worked with Nakisha along the Jordan Parkway Trail in Utah, blending vibrant flowers, soft natural light, and a colorful outfit to create portraits that felt playful, modern, and expressive. This session is a perfect example of how you can use florals and simple styling to create portraits that feel like fine art without needing a studio.

Why Jordan Parkway Trail Is Perfect for Floral Portraits
The Jordan Parkway Trail offers:
- Tall grasses and open space for light-filled images
- Neutral tones that make bold colors pop
- Easy access while still feeling natural and serene
For floral portrait photography, this location works beautifully because it doesn’t compete with the flowers or outfit. Instead, it adds texture and atmosphere while keeping the focus on the subject.

The Vision: A Floral Portrait Setup in Nature
We created a “floral wonderland” using live sunflowers for warmth, baby’s breath for softness, and high-quality faux florals to fill in gaps and add fullness. This mix allowed us to design a lush, layered floral scene that photographed beautifully from every angle , without the cost or fragility of using only fresh flowers.\
Nakisha’s outfit brought everything together: a cropped blue button-down paired with bold red pants. The contrast between cool and warm tones made her stand out against the flowers and greenery, creating a striking, editorial look.
A Simple Backdrop That Lets the Colors Shine
To keep attention on the flowers and her outfit, we used a white fabric backdrop. This created a clean base while still allowing the natural surroundings to peek through. The result was a setup that felt both styled and organic. This minimalist approach also made it easy to move between poses and angles while keeping the look cohesive. Here are a few pose styles that worked beautifully during this session and can inspire your own floral portraits:

On the Stool: Sitting allowed us to play with height and layering, placing flowers both in front of and behind her to create depth.

Standing Among the Flowers: This created a natural, effortless feel, as if she was part of the floral environment rather than simply posing in it.

Kneeling and Sitting: These poses felt grounded and intimate, highlighting details in the flowers and outfit.

Laying Around the Flowers: One of the most artistic moments; flowers surrounding her from every angle created a dreamy, editorial look that felt like floating in color.
