West Jordan Family Photographer For Family Photos That Feel Like You
Every family that sits down in front of my camera teaches me something new about what “family” looks like for them, and that’s the whole point of what I do as a West Jordan family photographer. I’m not here to hand you a stack of stiff, matchy-matchy family portraits. I’m here to capture the giggles, the group hugs, and all the photos and little in-between moments that actually look like your family. If you’ve been searching for family photography in West Jordan, Utah that feels like a story instead of a checklist, you’re in the right place.

Documenting Real Moments and Real Milestones
Every family I photograph is busy. Life moves fast, kids grow faster, and it’s easy to let years slip by without ever pausing to document them. That’s where I come in. My job is to slow that down and help you capture a real moment in time; one you and your family members can hold onto forever. Whether it’s your first photo shoot with a new baby, you’re gathering the whole family for a holiday session, or anything in between, I want the finished family pictures to feel like you.
Family photography isn’t just about one pretty picture for the mantle. First steps, first day of school, a family that’s grown by one more kid or one more pet since the last session — these are the milestones that make up a life. These sessions become the complete record of your family you didn’t know you needed until you have it. Parents tell me all the time it’s an absolute pleasure to finally have beautiful pictures that capture their family as they actually are right now: not posed, not perfect, just real. Watching a family relax into themselves in front of the camera never gets old, it’s simply amazing every time.
Karisa is an amazing photographer and very easy to work with! I would 100% use her again! We have a fairly large family group with adults and small children, she worked well with our entire group!

What to Expect From a Session
A real conversation.
We’ll talk through what you’re hoping to walk away with, along with any questions you have about location, outfits, props, and more. I share tips and guidance with every client so you show up feeling confident instead of stressed, and so the whole process feels easy from booking to gallery delivery.
A pace built around your family, not a stopwatch.
Big or small, every group gets treated differently. A family of three often has an easier time settling into candid moments together, while an extended family session takes a bit more choreography to make sure every family member gets their moment (kids, parents, grandparents, and everyone in between).
Room for the unscripted stuff.
I’ll guide you through a few classic poses, sure, but my focus is on the genuine moments that can’t be planned. Real smiles, real joy, the little ones being exactly who they are. That’s usually where the best photos come from anyway. It’s the artistic side of this work I love most, crafting a session around your family’s own personality instead of a formula.

Karisa is fantastic! She takes the time to make sure she is getting everything perfect including before, during, and after your session. She has taken photos for us for our engagement, newborn, and family photos as well as some beautiful headshots for our professional photos. We love her work!

West Jordan Family Photography Location Favorites
West Jordan has more range than people expect, which makes all the difference when it comes to finding a backdrop that actually fits your family. I love photographing families at Conservation Garden Park for its beautiful gardens and peaceful, nature-filled setting (photo permit required). The Jordan River Parkway offers winding trails, tall trees, and gorgeous golden-hour lighting, while Plum Creek Park and Sycamore Trail Park give families wide-open space where kids can explore and play between photos. If you’re drawn to a more charming, rustic feel, Gardner Village is full of historic buildings, bridges, and seasonal beauty (photo permit required).
We’ll choose the West Jordan location that fits your family best — cozy and intimate, natural and adventurous, or relaxed and full of room to run. And if a studio setting or an indoor space suits your family better, that’s an easy option too. If you’re willing to venture out a bit, I’m always happy to suggest other spots around the valley that might suit what you’re looking for.

Are You Expecting?
If you’re expecting, a maternity session is one of my favorite kinds of shoot — there’s something about capturing that glow before your baby arrives that families cherish for years. And if you’re looking for a baby photographer for newborn photos, I keep those sessions slow, quiet, and centered on comfort — for baby and for you, whether we’re photographing fresh from the hospital or once you’re settled at home. Whether we’re working in a cozy studio-style space or heading outside for natural light, my priority with newborn sessions is always making sure everyone feels comfortable, especially the smallest member of the group.
If you’re looking for these other sessions, check out my maternity photography and newborn photography pages for more information.

We have never took family photos before and Karisa did a phenomenal job! We didn’t really know what to do and Karisa did great at helping with location, how to pose etc. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. Highly recommend!

A Few Common Questions
How far in advance should I book my West Jordan family session? A few weeks out is usually safe, but summer and fall dates go quickly, so don’t wait! Schedule with me as soon as you have a date in mind.
Do you photograph large or extended families? Yes, extended family sessions are some of my favorite shoots. The more family members, the more fun (and the more genuine moments to capture).
Can we do an indoor studio session? Absolutely, I can share my studio guide with you for details on different locations and their hourly rental rates. If a studio setting fits your family better than an outdoor location, we can plan the session around that instead. If you’re interested, one of my favorite studios is actually located in West Jordan. We can always get beautiful photos inside no matter the weather.
Can we keep our photos private? Yes! Every client receives a “model release” where you can choose to keep your gallery private or allow share them in my portfolio. There are also options to keep minors’ faces private. I always resepect your wishes.
Karisa did amazing capturing our family! While our family can be somewhat awkward she made us feel comfortable during the shoot. She got our images to us very quickly as well. Thanks again, we will for sure reach out for future needs!

Let’s Create Something You’ll Actually Cherish
I’m endlessly grateful that families keep trusting me to be part of their story; it’s genuinely one of my favorite parts of running this small business. If you’re ready for a West Jordan family photographer who’ll capture your family exactly as they are, ready for a session that feels more like an afternoon with a friend than a formal photo shoot, I’d love to work with you and create some amazing memories together.
